Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, our e-Library is free for all members.

For vital pharmacy texts, two databases and guides, and four RCPharm research journals (one of which is open access).

Can I visit the library?

Anyone not eligible for membership can visit the library by making an appointment beforehand.
Visits remain by appointment only; please email us at [email protected] at least two weeks before you hope to visit.

If you are eligible for membership, you must become a member to visit our library.

The Royal College of Pharmacy Library is open to visitors by appointment.

Our print collection includes titles relating to pharmacy history, research, science and practice.

The library holds the full range of Pharmaceutical Press publications, including Martindale Complete Drug Reference, Stockley’s Drug Interactions, British National Formulary and The Pharmaceutical Journal (to 2021).

The British Pharmacopoeia 2026 is available to consult in the library.

If you would like to view a particular item in the library collection, please contact the Librarian to check availability and to book an appointment to visit the library.

Likewise, for print collection enquiries, including photocopying and loan services, please book requests a minimum of two weeks in advance.

Members may borrow up to 10 items and the loan period is 28 days. Just contact the library with your membership number to register. Books may be renewed twice remotely, providing that they have not been requested by another member.

Please note that the cost of returning items is the responsibility of the borrower. Certain standard works of reference cannot be loaned, so please check with the library for details.

Members can order articles, drug monographs or book chapters via the library. To use this service, you need to complete a copyright declaration form – private study or non-commercial research – depending on the purpose of your research, and email it to us. If the terms of this form don’t apply to you, meaning you are unable to sign it, please contact the library. You will need to pay the full copyright fee for your item

If the item is available from RCPharm library stock, the cost of supplying will be £5 per item.

If we obtain an item from the British Library for you, costs will vary. we will notify you of potential costs before each item is ordered.

Please allow 5-10 working days for items to be sent.

Library staff can conduct searches of our databases: Medline Complete and the Biomedical Reference Collection. To use our free Literature Search Service please email us.

This service is not available for RCPharm student members; however, please do contact us if you need help or advice using the databases.

The library deals primarily with searches on practice-based, non-clinical subjects. Clinical (patient-related medicines information) queries are referred to our professional support service.
