Black History Month is a momentous occasion to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of black people to British society and – for us in particular – pharmacy. It also serves as an opportunity to inspire and empower future generations.

Black History Month event 2025 – Standing Firm in Power and Pride

2025’s theme for Black History Month was Standing Firm in Power and Pride – a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength and unwavering commitment to progress of the Black communities within Pharmacy. Through this theme, we wanted to highlight the profound contributions made by Black pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and members of the wider pharmacy team who have broken barriers, created space and pathways within pharmacy, and are looking to the future of continued empowerment, unity and growth within the profession.

We celebrate Black excellence within our Black pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and members of the wider pharmacy team. We challenge negative narratives and celebrate the successes, contributions and achievements of Black individuals across Great Britain that are often overlooked.

Black pharmacy professionals have hugely contributed to the progression and development of the profession. We hear some of these different stories and consider how we can learn from past experiences for an even brighter future while learning about the diversity within the Black community.
