I’m Tase Oputu, and I’m the President of the new Royal College of Pharmacy.

On 15 April 1841, a dedicated group of London chemists and druggists came together to form a professional body. Today, 185 years later, I am immensely proud to welcome you to the Royal College of Pharmacy.

The establishment of the royal college is the beginning of a new chapter for pharmacy in Great Britain.

As a charity, the Royal College of Pharmacy exists to support pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists to advance the safe and effective use of medicines, and drive excellence in practice to the benefit of patients and the public.

We champion pharmacy across Great Britain and internationally, with a vision to be the world leader in the safe and effective use of medicines.

As the third largest workforce in healthcare, pharmacy plays a vital role in the health system, and as experts in medicines, pharmacists and their teams are central to patient care and public health. They are often the first point of contact for advice, treatment and prevention.

We want to create a strong and unified voice for pharmacy and to enable pharmacists and the wider pharmacy community to develop and thrive – so they can, in turn, deliver the best possible care for patients.

Welcome to our new website and we hope you enjoy exploring our information and resources.
