The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is inviting applications for up to three skilled trustees to join the first Board of the future Royal College of Pharmacy.
The new royal college will be a registered charity and the Trustee Board will ensure the College is operated in accordance with its Royal Charter obligations and charity law. The inaugural Trustee Board will be chaired by Joe Irvin OBE, who was appointed in November 2025.

These voluntary roles will be appointed for an initial term of up to three years, with the option to renew for two further terms. The time commitment required is up to one day a month. Trustees will work alongside the Chair and elected members to steer the strategic direction, good governance and finances of the College, ensuring its work benefits the public by supporting professionals to achieve excellence in patient care. A majority of the Trustee Board will be registered (or formerly registered) pharmacists, drawn from the Senate, the governance body of the College that will advise the Board of Trustees on professional matters.
RPS is encouraging applications from individuals with a background in governance, charity finance and leadership or organisational oversight. Experience as a trustee within a large or complex charity is welcomed, as is familiarity with safeguarding, equality focused work, or operating in highly regulated environments.
RPS President Professor Claire Anderson said:
“These trustee roles offer a unique opportunity to help shape the future Royal College of Pharmacy at a time of transformation for both the organisation and the wider healthcare system.
“We’re looking for people who bring strategic insight, strong governance experience and a deep understanding of the charity sector to help guide the next chapter of our development as a future royal college.”
Applications are open from 04 February-08 March. Find out more about the roles and how to apply.
