Medicines and falls

The Royal College of Pharmacy (RCPharm) has endorsed this resource on medicines and falls, published in July 2023 and written by Ðula Alićehajić-Bečić (Consultant Pharmacist for Frailty, Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust) and Heather Smith (Consultant Pharmacist for Older People, NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board).

Developed by specialist pharmacists working in frailty and older people’s care, the document supports healthcare professionals undertaking medication reviews for people at risk of falls. It includes guidance on falls-risk-increasing medicines, fracture risk, orthostatic hypotension and medicines optimisation.

This document was endorsed by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (now the Royal College of Pharmacy), British Geriatrics Society and Royal Osteoporosis Society.
