Louise Goldring

Director for Education

Louise started her career at the Centre for Enquiry-Based Learning at the University of Manchester where she worked on curriculum development and educational projects across the disciplines and taught postgraduate doctoral researchers how to teach. Prior to joining the Royal College of Pharmacy, she worked in education at the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) for 15 years, including as director of learning for the final seven years. She led a high-performing large multiprofessional department to develop, deliver and evaluate a complex portfolio of educational activity including clinical and technical skills, professional development programmes and technology-enhanced learning including immersive technologies. She led the ‘Professionalising Supervision’ workstream for the National Improving Surgical Training project and led the redevelopment of the RCS flagship leadership development programme.

Louise joined the organisation in January 2026 to lead the education directorate, which encompasses the assessment and credentialing, education and professional development and events teams.

Louise is an independent executive coach and mentor with a specialism and keen interest in leadership. She believes in strengths-based approaches, supporting individuals to grow and develop, bringing in new ideas and external influences and creating space for innovation. She has experience as a non-executive director in a membership organisation and runs medical careers events with schools in a voluntary capacity as a member of the Worshipful Company of Barbers.
