In recent years, it has become clear that more can be done to improve the health and wellbeing of women and girls. The Royal College of Pharmacy (RCPharm) believes there is a need for greater focus on women’s health. Pharmacists and pharmacy teams already provide vital support and advice for women, but we believe that with additional collaboration, support and resources, much more is possible.

RCPharm has held women’s health focus groups to hear from pharmacists about the work they already do and how they want to help improve services provided to women. It is clear from these discussions that pharmacists across all settings – including community pharmacy, general practice pharmacy and hospital pharmacy – have much to offer to women at all stages of their lives. It is also clear that there is not enough support or recognition of the role of pharmacists and pharmacy teams.

We’d like to thank all those who took time to contribute to the women’s health focus groups that were held, and shared their views and expertise through meetings, emails and messages.
